Amazing Spaces: Shed of the Year Canceled Channel 4 Series Not Returning for Season 5
Episodes
The grand final is here. After travelling the length and breadth of the country, the show looking for the most imaginative and outrageous sheds, will announce the winner of Shed of the Year 2017. First, though, is the Eco category, with a glorious woodland stargazer in the Scottish Highlands up against an elaborate hobbit house. There's also the Budget category, with a shed that's a fully functioning home made for just ú1000, versus a stunning shack built from off cuts and discards for less than ú300. Later, George Clarke and the judges must decide which of the eight finalists will receive the overall award as Shed of the Year 2017.
This time it's the Historic category and Workshops and Studios. The Historic sheds includes a World War II police station. The featured Workshops and Studios include a shed that was used to write a multi-million bestselling trilogy and a space in Wales where the owner creates life-changing limbs for children from around the world.
Round 2 sees George and the judges turn their attention to 'Pubs and Entertainment' and 'Unexpected' Sheds. 'Pubs and Entertainment' is the only place on earth you'll see a West Country whisky den, go head-to-head with an immaculate reproduction of Doctor Who's Tardis. In the 'Unexpected Category', there's a life-saving hedgehog rescue centre, competing with a potentially soul-saving shed, which is also the smallest cathedral in the UK.
This year's Shed Olympics kicks off with the glorious Cabins and Summerhouses category - including a mushroom-shaped shed and the #Girlshed, which is a festival of pink and turquoise, in the style of an LA pool pad. Each shed is hoping to win the public vote and book their place in the grand final. After last years' online storm, a brand new category has been created - called Not a Shed? This category celebrates some of the 75 different varieties of shed out there and embodies the boundary-pushing passion and ingenuity that Shed of the Year is all about.
After months scouring the country for the most ingenious and eccentric sheds, the overall winner of Shed of the Year 2016 is announced. But first there are two more categories to explore. The Budget category includes a colourful beach house made for just £20 and a shed that actually earned its owner £100 in profit. The Cabins and Summerhouses group features a classic van and a dream structure in an allotment. Next, George and his fellow judges must choose one shed from all the category winners across the series to crown as the overall winner.
With the competition at the half way point, it's the turn of the most popular category: Pubs and Entertainment sheds. This fiercely contested group includes an entire Wild West town built out of sheds up in Aberdeen, a faithful replica of a Polish mountain drinking den in rural Ireland, and a nightclub in a Hackney with a truly one of a kind owner. Also in this episode are the shortlisted sheds in the Workshops and Studios group. Here a blacksmith's smithy is up against a Star Wars shed and George Clarke meets a man with over 300 lawnmowers in his garden shed.
George Clarke's mission to find Britain's shed of the year continues. George and his fellow judges look at the Eco and Unexpected categories. Eco includes a mud hut in Norfolk and a shed on wheels. Featuring in the new Unexpected category is a shed located in a flood plain designed to rise up with the water. There is also an allegedly haunted shed.
George Clarke and the Amazing Spaces team return for the highlight in every shed owner's calendar: The Shed of the Year competition. From hundreds of entries, just 32 have made it on to the judges' shortlist for 2016, and only one will take the ultimate shed accolade. The first episode features the 'Unique' and 'Historic' categories, including a shed that rotates 360 degrees to follow the sun, to a shed that can hit the road clocking in at 90mph. There is also a faithful replica of an Anglo Saxon longhouse and a Vietnam War bunker in Staffordshire.
The competition reaches its climax with cabins, summerhouses, studios, and George Clarke and the team voting for the overall series winner.
There's a Pirates of the Caribbean shed this time. There's also a biker pub, a nightclub shed, a distillery, a hillbilly shed, garden pavilion and a Nepalese mountain hut in Bolton.
There's a Japanese treehouse, a gothic folly, a 1950s Diner, an Anglo Saxon dwelling and George Bernard Shaw's writing hut taking part in the Unique and Historical categories.
This episode includes a home cinema, a boat/shed, a shed made out of mud, a miniature railway shed and a 'shedservatory' with a state-of-the-art telescope for stargazing.
It's the final of the competition, featuring sheds including a Dad's Army theme, an amusement park, and the Pub Shed. George Clarke and his fellow judges have a tough decision to make.
The competition to find Britain's best shed continues with a Gothic grotto decorated with 50,000 seashells, a scaled down Elizabethan lodge, and a graffiti artist's shed with a gorilla.
The first episode includes the unique shed category, which features a 21-foot-wide replica of a tea pot, a Titanic museum and a cinema shed with over 3000 films
