She was born in Sierra Leone and her parents died in the conflicts there when she was very young, so Michaela ended up in an orphanage. She always wanted to dance, but never had the opportunity. Grammy-winning and Emmy and Oscar-nominated singer/actress Queen Latifah performs a special new arrangement of "California Dreamin,'" accompanied by professional dancers Tony Dovolani and Anna Trebunskaya. She also sings "I'm Gonna Live Till I Die" from her latest album, "Trav'lin Light," accompanied by renowned ballroom dancers Victor Fung and Anna Mikhed. The current and former U.S. Ballroom champions will also take to the stage to perform a special Tango to the classic song, "Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon.".
In a "Dancing with the Stars" first, twelve celebrities attempt to outshine one another on a fifth season of the hit series. This marks the largest and most diverse cast assembled to date which includes an Emmy Award-winning actress, a Vegas icon, an Indy 500 champion, a Spice Girl, a daytime drama star, a Cheetah Girl and a former resident of "90210." Viewers will also be treated to a performance by the world's greatest living flamenco dancer, Joaquin Cortes, who makes a special trip from Europe for a spectacular and unique routine.

Grammy Award winning R&B artist Macy Gray will perform her single, "Finally Made Me Happy," from her new album, "Big." "Dancing with the Stars" Season Two contestant Lisa Rinna will take the stage to with six other dancers to perform a number from the hit musical "Chicago." Rinna has been tapped to play the role of "Roxie," debuting in June on Broadway. Professional dancer Louis Van Amstel also returns to perform his choreographed "Zoot Suit Riot" number from the "Dancing with the Stars Tour.".
The second couple will be dismissed on "Dancing with the Stars the Results Show. Grammy-winning recording artist Ciara takes to the stage to perform her hit, "Like a Boy." Music sensation Josh Groban will then sing "So She Dances," as Tony Dovolani and Julianne Hough perform. In addition, the rock band Survivor will perform the classic "Eye of the Tiger" as the professionals do a group Paso Doble.
On the season premiere, eleven celebrities paired with professional instructors will make their ballroom dancing debut performing one of two disciplines - the Cha Cha or the Foxtrot. As the viewing audience votes for their favorite performances via phone or online at www.abc.com, the couples will be judged, critiqued and scored by a panel of dance experts -- renowned Ballroom Judge Len Goodman, and dancer/choreographers Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba. She has also appeared on "Spin City" and a variety feature films. Her partner, Alec Mazo, began dancing at age five in his native Russia. He was the Emerald Ball Latin Champion and placed first in the 2001 International Grand Ball and the 2001 Holiday Ball. He also runs the largest and most successful dance studio in Southern California. Alec recently began competing professionally with his girlfriend of four years, Edyta Sliwinska, who is partnered with Evander Holyfield for this competition.
