In 1991, a woman is found murdered inside a Nashville motel room. The investigation escalates after Detective Postiglione discovers a similar crime scene in Cincinnati, sending him on a year-long odyssey to capture a serial killer.
In 1993, a night clerk is shot dead inside the lobby of a hotel. Despite eyewitness accounts, Det. Postiglione can't locate the killer. Recalling subtle clues left outside the crime scene, he finally comes face to face with a most unusual suspect.
It's 1987 and Pat is a young detective just starting on the general homicide unit. During the night shift, he is called to the scene of a murder. A young mother, Vanessa Rucker, was murdered with her children in the other room, and her body was found in a position that signals sexual assault. Without much evidence or clear suspects, the case is put in the hands of the Murder Squad, an elite unit of homicide investigators and still goes cold. Almost one year later, Pat is promoted to the Murder Squad and given another opportunity to solve the case that haunts him to this day.
In 2004, Detective Postiglione investigates the rare double homicide of two young college students in an apartment near a Nashville university. When a third victim is gunned down, Pat launches a state-wide manhunt to catch a ruthless killer.
In the middle of the night, Pat is called to the scene of a homicide at The North First Street Truck Stop.
