On Christmas Day in Eden the community finally come together to celebrate. Katie, still seething at the 'The Valley Boys', spends the majority of the day alone. She arrives at the community's Christmas dinner late, and after an argument, storms out. In the days that follow, she becomes increasingly isolated. It becomes apparent that certain members of the community are unable to resist the trappings of everyday life, and contraband deliveries of cigarettes, alcohol and other luxuries continue to make their way into camp. While most tolerate these transgressions, a more shocking and serious discovery causes far more resentment. In the final days the two groups' desire to mark their year-long achievement brings them together for one last hurrah.
The atmosphere in Eden remains hostile with the community effectively split into two - a mixed group in the summer camp and an all-male posse living in a valley in the woods. The 'Valley Boys' become increasingly insular and antagonistic. At the height of hunting season, The Valley Boys decide to embark on a meat only diet - without sharing their spoils with the rest of the community. Vet Rob finds the atmosphere intolerable, and takes issue with their behaviour - resulting in a decision that leaves his girlfriend Katie furious and questioning her future. Having built an isolated house in the woods, boatman Anton and carpenter Raph now find themselves ostracised by almost every other member of the Eden community. Anton bears the brunt of their frustrations and anger; as there is a widely held belief that the pair are not contributing to the wider group, yet using items earmarked for the whole community - something they deny. Oli decides to confront Raph and Anton - the resulting showdown boils over into a dramatic conclusion that changes the group forever. The next episode is on tomorrow night. As three more people leave, for the first time the men significantly outnumber the women in Eden. The perceived physical differences between the sexes causes major conflict, with some of the men suggesting they concentrate on the traditionally more 'male' roles, while declaring the more domestic roles should be done by the women. The proposed plan leads to outrage. With power in the hands of those that control the provisions, some of the likeminded men band together in a group dubbed by the others as the alpha male mafia. An atmosphere of 'the strong survive and the weak should leave' begins to permeate camp and tensions and divisions grow. Cameraman Oli and gardener Rachel develop an intense friendship that others feel could have far-reaching consequences for the rest of the group. The next episode is on tomorrow night. In March 2016, 23 men and women left everyday life behind to live in a remote part of the British Isles. Disillusioned with 21st century living, they entered Eden as strangers to isolate themselves from the modern world and be given the chance to start again and create a new society from scratch. Their first months were shown on Channel 4 in 2016. But as life in Eden progressed, the promise of a utopia looked like anything but... This stripped series across the week follows the remaining time in Eden, to find out how the dream turned into a nightmare. Life in Eden proved too tough for some, and after just three months, two had already left. By the summer, hunger pervades and divisions within the camp are already becoming apparent as boatman Anton and carpenter Raph separate themselves and continue building a winter camp in the woods away from the beach and the communal living space. Gamekeeper Glenn and outdoor instructor Tom begin to question their roles in Eden.
This final episode in the current run sees the arrival of spring in Eden - lambs are being born and the group take advantage of the sunshine as they come together to build a winter dwelling. One of the male members of the camp sets his sights on one of the girls in group, trying to discover if his feelings are reciprocated. Someone also attempts to engineer a split in Eden, believing that creating an 'A Team' and forcing the weakest to leave is the route to long-term success. But will their plan succeed?
In this episode, with rations still scarce, the camp has been on the potato diet for over a month now and it's putting them under pressure. Rob P and Raphael are struggling with weight loss and fatigue. Army officer Jack feels that some of the group are not working hard. He and some of the others are tired of waiting for the group to make decisions and decide to strike out and start building their own cabins. Rumours of a split cause tension. With emotions running high and morale low, a row erupts.
The group try to work out how to organise their new world. Anton's bid to build a cabin in the woods leads to confrontation. And a diet of potatoes all day starts to take its toll.
The experience begins as the gates are opened and the participants encounter Eden for the first time. Through woodland, they must find each other, battle the elements and begin to build a new home.
