Tom's father invented The Feed, but Tom's relationship with his family and the technology that they sold to the world is complicated. When the Head of The Feed's Moscow Hub, Dmitri Garin, is reported missing Lawrence must call upon Tom's help. Lawrence asks Tom to go to Russia and speak to Dmitri's son, Anton, the last person to see his father alive. When Tom meets Anton he is alarmed to find that Anton has gouged his own eye out and has little memory of what happened the day his father went missing. Tom must convince the boy to let him access his Feed and find out what really happened that day.
Meanwhile Tom's wife Kate struggles with the pregnancy of her first child. Worried that she lacks maternal instinct, Tom's mum, Meredith, seemingly throws her a lifeline when she explains how The Feed could help. Previously wary of The Feed, Kates starts to heavily rely upon it and finds the ability to feel connected to her unborn child invaluable.
But when it seems that something strange and violent is happening to The Feed Tom must question how safe society, and his family, are from the technology they have so blindly embraced.
