First, each carver must sculpt a 3-D zombie in their likeness, complete with accessories that reflect their personality. Then, Sunny presents the carvers with a team challenge: creating a giant haunted house using a minimum of 15 pumpkins. It's up to judges Paul Dever and Terri Hardin to crown a winning team and determine which member of the bottom team goes home.

In the finale, host Alyson Hannigan challenges the remaining four carvers to create a hero who has 30 seconds to save the world from doomsday. Then they must incorporate their hero into a 5-foot-tall scene depicting the end of the world and featuring world-famous Atlantic Giant pumpkins. Judges Marc Evan and Terri Hardin decide which carver is crowned Outrageous Pumpkins Champion and takes home the $25,000 prize.
The five carvers are challenged to create out-of-this-world structures and sky-high alien encounters using at least two stacked pumpkins. Then host Alyson Hannigan tasks the competitors with using at least 15 pumpkins to create an epic monster ride. Judges Marc Evan and Terri Hardin send one carver cruising home while four elite carvers head to the finale.

Then they get to flex their imagination as they create a gigantic Halloween feast for a special guest of honor. From 3-D frog brains to pumpkin pepperoni pizza, judges Marc Evan and Terri Hardin have their work cut out for them to decide who goes home and who remains to fight for the title of Outrageous Pumpkins Champion.

Then the stakes are raised with a minimum of five pumpkins needed to create a terrifying jack-o'-lantern display depicting what lies beneath the ocean. Judges Marc Evan and Terri Hardin pick their favorites, and one competitor is sent packing.
In the final challenge, host Alyson Hannigan tasks the remaining four pumpkin carvers with their most-monstrous carves yet. For the Quick Carve round, they have to create a terrifying monster-in-law. In the Big Carve round, they have to make a 5-foot-tall monster bash scene using Atlantic Giant pumpkins weighing in at over 1,000 pounds each! Judges Terri Hardin and Ray Villafane decide which monster is the life of the pumpkin party and which carver takes home the $25,000 prize.
In the pet cemetery-themed Quick Carve round, the competitors feature animals returning from the dead, and their structures must be at least two pumpkins tall and include everything from stem to seed. For the Big Carve round, the carvers create enormous prehistoric animals, and wind, rain and snow make the challenge extra difficult.
In the Quick Carve round, the remaining six competitors have to create frightening science experiments gone horribly wrong! Things literally heat up in the Big Carve round as the carvers must incorporate an element of fire in a 3-D diorama depicting pumpkin trick-or-treaters.
The seven expert pumpkin carvers' first challenge is to master the classic Halloween jack-o'-lantern and feature a dynamic use of light. In the Quick Carve round, the competitors must depict the struggle between good and evil. For the Big Carve round, each competitor is given one of the seven deadly sins to inspire their truly horrifying creation.
